My Fall

Yup this is as painful as it looks.
This morning I decided to make some great use of the sun shining and go do some running. I have really been enjoying do the running thing for a while now. I have been loving the weight it has been helping me get rid of and the energy it gives me but I especially love being outside so being stuck on the treadmill has been driving a little crazy. All though I have had some trouble with it honestly all in all I can't complain about it, that is until today.
So I got just under a mile and half in on a route that I have run before without difficulties when i found a rough part in the side walk ( stupid side walk). Boy did I go down hard.Knocked the wind out of me, scratched me up pretty good and i was fighting tears immediately. Needless to say My running was brought to an abrupt halt.
I happened to fall right in front of a little girl who was playing in her yard she in turn went and got her mother. The mother was so sweet she went and got a chair for me to sit on for a little bit and seeing the blood running down my leg she also got me some Kleenex and a band aid to but over the heavy bleeding section. After a few minutes when I got my breath back I thanked her , wished her A Merry Christmas and limped away. As I limped down the street a truckful of people noticed me limping and pulled over to ask if I was ok. I of course said I was but thanks for the concern. If Nothing else this let me know that there are some friendly people around my neighborhood.
Before I left I told Ken I was going to go for a run and he in turn said don't get hurt. SO of course I texted him that he jinxed me. HAHA. Well it'sa good thing I don't actually believe in that sort of thing. So I guess I am taking a small hiadus from running for a couple of days but then yes I will be right back at it again.

Christmas parade

Me and My two favorite girl scouts.
Me and troop 1246
Here comes Santa Clause

Wow the first weekend of December was crazy for this family. On the 5th we missed our wards Christmas party because I had signed my girl scouts up for the parade without realizing that they were same night and same time. I was a little bummed about missing the party but the girls had a ton of fun being in the parade.
this years theme was A Whoville Christmas. Everyone had so much fun doing crazy things with their hair and I even had a fun head band in.

Ken's work Party

All the employees of Blast.

I look forward to December for so many reason's. One of which I enjoy meeting with Ken's office for their annual Christmas dinner. One reason for this is while Ken and I enjoy going out for an occasional date this is a guaranteed thing. I also enjoy getting to meet anyone new in the office and their significant others and being able to talk with those I already know. Ken works with some pretty great people. They are all very nice and what is better they all work really well together.
The past few years we have gone to Fats in Roseville. LOve that Chinese food place. However this year we were able to try something very last minute. On December 4th we went to an Italian restruant at the Galleria mall called II Fornaio. It was very good food. I ordered the chicken Tuscana. I really enjoyed it. I couldn't eat it all but I liked it. We sat out on the patio that was completely enclosed and had a wonderful fireplace with the fire going. It made for a wonderfully cozy and relaxing evening with great company.

My girl scouts doing a little caroling

On December 3 My girl scout troop joined with a younger group and went to Prestige to do a little Christmas caroling for the residents there. The girls had the opportunity to be the dinner entertainment. They even had the opportunity to sing happy birthday to one of the ladies living there.
Yes as you can see there are a couple little boys involved in this. Little brother wanted to be involved so we let them .
A great time was had by all. What a great way to get into the spirit at the start of this wonderful month by singing carols and bringing a little Joy to those around us.

"It's begininng to look a lot Like Christmas"

Kenzie hiding behind the tree whiel she hangs something up.

On November 27th my family went out for some family fun. First we went to yo - yo yogurt. Let me say this day was freezing and wet so going to get a frozen treat was a little crazy but everybody enjoyed their treats. Afterwords we went and bought out Christmas tree. This of course is something we all look forward to doing every year. Because it was wet we let stand in the garage for awhile to dry out.
On the 28th we brought it into the house. On the 29th after church and after dinner we turned on our Christmas music and a blast pulling out the decorations. Everyone always has so much fun decorating the tree as well as everything else in and around the house.

My Surprise Visit

Me, my Mom and Lydia

MY Mom and Aunt Chris
So On November 13th i had a fantastic surprise. While I was running around with McKenzie and Nelson for P.E. my mom called my cell phone. The Best thing about this call is she told me that she and my sister Lydia along with her boys were in Modesto. What? I stopped running at this point. I was shocked. Apparently they took an impromtu trip down this way to get Lydia's Christmas Decorations. Anyway we made plans to get together that night.

We Met at Leatherby's in Sacramento. A family favorite spot to go to. My Aunt Chris and cousin Alison with her two girls were there as well. This was a great night for me . I was so happy to see them. I had just been thinking how much I miss my sisters and my parents and then they show up. It was a great mood lifter for me. This Little visit will get me through till Christmas when i can see them again.

Another prestige trip

Ok so i Know I have said this before but I really Love Cali's teacher. This was the November trip to Prestige that Cali's class took. It was actually done the first Friday of November.
They did a wonderful job. This time they sang 40 hr. week again and they also sang Sing a song of sixpence. They also did two puppet shows. They performed The little Red Hen and Goldilocks and the Three Bears. Cali got to be The Little Red Hen this time and she did a great job. They also did some reading to the people there.
I really think that think this is a great opportunity for these kids to bring a little joy to the lives of others. ANd I love that Mrs.Anderson teaches these kids great music and stories.

Girl scouts go ice skating

Me and my two favorite girl scouts.
McKenzie and all the Brownies.
Dulce, McKenzie and Cali

Kenzie trying a few tricks while on the ice. Amazingly she didn't fall.
Me and all 11 of my girls ranging from 2nd grade up to the 7th.

So I have been McKenzie's girl scout leader since she was in 1st grade. She has been in it since Kindergarten however. I have had my share of frustrations and my share of fun with the girls over the years. The troop keeps losing and adding girls. I have had 4 of the girls for 3 yrs and the rest have just been added within the last year. Cali joined my troop last year and has been having a ton of fun. she is especially happy to have a whole group of girls who are her age.

This was our first big activity of this girl scout year. We got to go ice skating. This is the 3rd time I have taken my girls ice skating. Needless to say this is one of the favorite activities because they keep wanting to do it. Over half the girls that were with me on this day had never actually been on ice skates before so needless to say I was a bit nervous about someone breaking their ankle or something. I am very happy to report that while quite a few of the girls fell a few times not no one was seriously hurt. They all had a blast and are already planning another trip.

I love being able to be part of my girls lives in this way.

She's twelve and in young womens how did that happen?

Kenzie mixed in with her beehive class and leaders Sister Blanquie and Sister Collazo
Kenzie with one of our laurel's , Erin
Kenzie, Eliza and my mia maid, Bethany

So she is twelve years old. Wow I can't believe it. Twelve years have just flown by and now she has joined me in Young womens.
SO this is her first activity. She got to go to an activity before she joined them in class. ON the day after her birthday. We had a combined young women activity. Ice cream social. It was a lot of fun. McKenzie had a blast and is extremely excited to be part of young women's.

Our crazy Sunday

So my Sundays are usually pretty relaxing. They usually consist of me and the family going to church and then coming home spending time with my family. We will usually do our family home evening on Sundays because we are all actually at home on this night. That is usually what goes on in the Colborn house on Sunday's and it is great.

However today we had to break away from that routine. It Started at church. CAli tried fasting today and ended up not feeling well because of it. I had to leave half way through my lesson to go take care of her. Thanks Jenny for taking over the lesson and Tammy for letting Cali have the goldfish. I very much appreciate it. I went to BYC and then stayed later while my oldest, Kenzie, had an interview with Bishop Keith. Wow I can't believe today was her last day in primary and that tomorrow she will be twelve. Talk about crazy. I now have a child in young womens. Anyway while i was waiting for her i was listening to the ward choir practice. And I got noticed. CAmeron Knudson made the point of asking if i could be in the choir. Sister Shurtz of course said yes and Me not being able to come up with a good excuse not to participate said sheepeshly ok. So I guess i have been recruited into the ward choir. Thanks Cameron. Actually it should be fun I think.

Anyway to further mess up my Sunday routine Cali while I was in BYC hurt her foot. I was hoping it was nothing but after a few hours she still burst into tears to put the tinest pressure on it. Yeah so we got to go to urgent care to find out she sprained her foot. Yeah she is going to be on crutches for at least a week. thank goodness though it isn't anything more serious.

Her and her princess pumpkin
Ken hard at work
His space invader
you can tell she is really concentrating by where her tonge is
Her howling wolf

Sammy as spiderman
Nelson as the leader of the storm troopers (rex)
Cali as the beautiful bride
Kenzie as the scary ghost

Today was a fantastic day. I always love being able to spend time with my family. And the days when we have fun together make our days together all the better.

Everyone had fun carving their pumpkins today and putting their ideas into action. This evening everyone had fun dressing up and doing some trick or treating. Even Ken and I dressed up. Ken wore the cape i made for him a year or two ago and went as a jedi again this year and I went as a pink lady. This has been a very fun Halloween.
